Physical Education

At Bankfoot Primary School we believe that Physical Education (PE) is fundamental to pupils' development and education and are committed to encouraging pupils to lead a healthy and active lifestyle. We aim to deliver a broad and balanced programme which will provide a range of opportunities to help motivate and engage all pupils, alongside developing life-skills such as teamwork, determination and respect.

In addition to the PE curriculum, we also offer a range of after-school activities. Sports clubs include football, gymnastics, cricket, Zumba, multi-sports and more!  Children have the chance to take part in a variety of competitions from handball to tag rugby, organised through the MyBD5 partnership and Tong School Sports Enterprise.  We have a history of success in sports competitions, including being crowned as Bradford Gymnastics Champions in 2011-2012 and attending the West Yorkshire Games to represent Bradford in gymnastics and cricket. We achieved West Yorkshire Champion Status in 2011 - 2012.

Children who show a commitment to sports clubs and demonstrate outstanding behaviour are rewarded through trips. Sports trips that have taken place include a trip to Doe Park Water Activities Centre where children did team-building exercises and kayaking, rock-climbing at the Leeds Wall, a fun day at the i-Zone at Richard Dunn Sports Centre and a trip to Headingley Cricket Ground.
